Rainbow after record rainfall – Sept 15 2008

This Monday morning after a record rainfall for SW Michigan of almost 11inches in a 48 hour period it’s appropriate to have this rainbow.

The sky is so intense and beautiful this morning.  I’m glad I got up early.

This is a scud found by a camp staff in one of the vernal ponds at camp. These creatures are an health indicator. If the water is too polluted then these guys just can’t survive.

Small Map Turtle & Large Northern Water Snake July 2006

Canoeing in Saint Joseph County Michigan I spot these two creatures(small map turtle & northern water snake) just relaxing in the noon day sun. They are uneffected by the canoe that is only a few few from their log.
