My assistant finds these two glow worms(lighting bug larva) under a log outside the nature center.

Wood & Western Chorus Frogs Calling - April 7, 2008

Here is a male western chorus frog “puffing up” to call for a mate.

As I’m watching these wood frogs I notice the vibration that their call makes in the water.

Notice the rings in the water.  I also notice that sometimes the males move in the water when they call which changes there call.

This tiny (crab?) spider is soaking up some of the sun’s rays getting ready for some insects.

It’s around 5 pm and I’m walking home when I spy this bull frog in the fen. Last night there was 2+ inches of snow. It must be hard being an amphibian.

We got a few inches of snow last night. I love snow but I’m ready for spring. It does look pretty though.
