As I’m walking back to work from lunch, I spy these green darner dragonflies mating. They are strikingly beautiful! They are quite fierce in their aquatic stage nymph stage.

This tree is on the edge of the upper flat near the Sycamore lodge.

My assistant finds these two glow worms(lighting bug larva) under a log outside the nature center.

As I’m walking by the base of Turtle Hill to check out the wetland burn at main camp I spy these miner bees in what I guess to be a mating ball.
The hole to the right is a miner bee’s burrow.

I am looking at this basswood tree and counting the age of the branches when I notice these insects(shield bugs???). Boy, these are well camouflaged.

As I look down at the edge of the woods I see this skeleton of a leaf. It’s kinda neat.

Inside these 2 clusters of white pine needles are little green caterpillars. One came very quickly out the home it had made as I begin to take apart some of the needles. I don’t know what kind of insect this is?

This interesting object is the home to wasp of some kind. I believe these are called oak apple galls. I’m facinated that these wasps can cause oak to create a home for them.
