I am looking at this basswood tree and counting the age of the branches when I notice these insects(shield bugs???). Boy, these are well camouflaged.

As I look down at the edge of the woods I see this skeleton of a leaf. It’s kinda neat.

I wonder why tulip popular leafs decompose at a faster rate than other leafs like oaks?

Here on Turtle Hill I see this bird’s nest being used by a squirrel I presume(or maybe a mouse??)
